The housing market in Leicester has been nothing to sneeze about over the last 18 months as house prices have been buoyant, making our county one of the top performing markets in England (only Nottingham has performed better).
In fact, experts are reporting a very positive environment for house sellers, with asking prices booming over the last few months. RightMove (one of the places your home will be listed if you sell with Phillips George) is reporting a record 152 million site visits in January, while agreed sales increased by 12% in the month.
Has coronavirus affected the housing market?
However just when Brexit uncertainty has been downgraded, we are faced with yet another challenge. The coronavirus has hit the world economy, but we need to keep things in perspective. Viruses come and go, and this one will too. The governor of the Bank of England says will not lead to long term financial instability like the 2008 crash. The virus has already been isolated and identified by our clever scientists.
What does that mean for us? The housing market is not showing signs of slowing down, and Phillips George remains confident for this year. The stock market correction last week was bad news for the wealthy stock market investors (perhaps against a background of an over-inflated market) but will have less impact on the general public in our finances and daily lives
